New Tank Ideas

I Am Looking into getting a Juwel Rio 125 And just looking for ideas as to what to keep in it I have got Commuinty tank so want to try somthing new
Also is Sand or Gravel Better

I started my Tanganyikan interest in a Juwel Rio 125. Obviously not ideal but it did lead on to a larger tank!

o would go with some apistos and rams definately. and maybe a few festivum.

I'm going to be setting up a 55g and i'm going to be using sand as my substrate...instead of the gravel. for a better look...OR if you don't want to try sand you can get pea gravel. I would have used pea gravel but I can't find any this time of year.

I have a thing for corydoras and small shoaling fish so I would probably go for something like

Rummy nose Tetra
Red Phantom Tetra
Cardinal Tetra


Panda Corydoras
Black schutzi corydoras
Juli Corydoras

and then a centre piece fish like a Black angel or Dwarf gourami.

Not neccesarily all of the above but something to concider. I also always fancied Endlers but don't have the water conditions for them.

Really depends what you fancy. Find some fish you like then research research research.

Not neccesarily all of the above but something to concider. I also always fancied Endlers but don't have the water conditions for them.

Really depends what you fancy. Find some fish you like then research research research.

I am still a beginner but as I understand angels will eat smaller fishes like tetras. Angel also get quite big.

Personally I would check your tap water first to see the pH. Tetra needs acidic water and won't last long in alkaline condition. You can of course change the pH but it would increase the cost some what.

I would go with sand if you are going to get corys. I recently changed to sand from gravel because I wanted some bottom-feeder.

All the tetra i've reccomended are large and therefore suitable to be kept with an Angel fish as long as the Angel is added as a juvi. My water is slightly acidic so ideal for the fish i listed, Live bearers on the other hand need hard, alkaline water ideally. I was just giving a few random suggestions without knowing the ops water chemistry it's hard to give specifics. Angels do get quite big but they have a low bioload and this tank is quite high at 50cm so is suitable for a full grown Angel.
