So i had this 10 gallon tank, that i realized was getting a little over crowded. So last sunday 1 week 1 day ago i moved everything over to my 35 gallon tank. Its a hex tank, tall verry tall. So heres my problem i have. After swapping, i left the old filter in amongst the new one, my new filter is a emperor 280. WHich is good for up to 50 gallons. i let that sit for about 4 days in there. the water is still so foggy i cant see the back of the tank. Does anyone know what the problem is? any help is very much appreciated.

You kept the filter running.
If the tank cloudy its a sign of a bacteria bloom.
What are your water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate.

unfortunatly i dont have anymore testing stuff for ammonia, However i do have my nitrite and nitrate levels. nitrite level=20ppm nitrate level= 0 ppm

i think i may have found a problem. let me give u a small timeline of events

1 week before swap day- Put in large plant in 10 gallon fish tank.
2 days later- water got cloudy plant removed
swap day- Tank still cloudy, thought nothing of it.
1 week later- cloudy tank...ticked off me
today- realized water had a green tint...think its an algea bloom....even more angry....added algea killer and did a 5 gallon water change on the 35 gallon tank. water mildly clearer...

would this be a suitable schedule for the next week

leave light off first 48 hours, change 5 gallons wed, fri, sunday ???

the problem is bacteria bloom, if your getting a reading that high for nitrite and 0 nitrate then it's started cycling when you transferred your tanks over. there's a pinned topic in the beginners resource centre about cycling with fish, have a read of that

well i got some pics of the tank for yall. im going to pick up an ammonia test kit tomorrow night.
