i have a 60l biorb for the fry, they are about 2/3 weeks old and they havent grown much at all (not as much as the fry that was in there a few weeks before) they are about 1cm and really thin, the biorb has been set up for 6 days ive moved 1 small golden loach into it. Can i put the fry in and do water changes every 2/3 days??
the biorb is planted and there are about 15 - 20 fry and the fry are in the main tank in a breeding net

Thanks
Jodie ;)

You can get the space you need without cycling the tank. It will mean staying right on top of the water testing and water changes because you will be doing a fish-in cycle. I am not really familiar with loaches so I have no idea if it is a good idea to have one with your fry. I do know that the fry will do better with less bioload in a new cycling tank because the pollutants will build more slowly at lower loads.

ok thanks! the golden sucking loach is really small about 8cm, ive put the fry in and it looks like they are enjoying their new space, so shall i change the water twice a week?

Thanks
Jodie

You change the water based on ammonia and nitrite testing results. If all is well change a couple of times a week anyway because it helps the fish grow better.

make sure you are etsting every other day - you might lose some fry cos of the fish in cycling they are not as tough as their parents
