New Tank! :d -

So,

As i'm in a small place, I've always thought I couldn't get a bigger tank than my Juwel 70L

I walked into the pet shop today after work, and spotted a tank called the "Lido 120" (Pictured below).

I came home, then decided I wanted it, ran back and bought it (I'm a bit of a freak, impulse buyer).

It's now sat in the back of the car - I Live on my own so no idea how i'm going to get it out and into the house

Anyway, the one I just purchased is pictured below;

Apparently, i'm fine to just take the sponges out of the current filter, and put them into the new one as they are both the same size. Then keep all the water and put into the new tank.

Any tips on how to move the 70L from its corner out safely and on my own would be appreciated....

Ah cool congrats on the upgrade!! I would get down to BnQ and get some of the big rubber builders buckets put everything from the old tank into them move that tank then set up the new one and move stuff from buckets to new tank keep the filter in the bucket and pluged in as well and then when the new tank is ready move all the sponges etc into the new juwel filter.

Thanks! I'm EXHAUSTED. Just moved the 120L from back seat of my car all the way to the house on my own.. Determination prevails!

I will run to BNQ now and get some buckets... probably need atleast 5 for 70L?

As for the filter, its one of these ones thats stuck to the tank, so don't think I can move.. best bet to put all the sponges loosely in the tank water with a container seperate from buckets, and whilst i'm at it clean the sponges aswell?

Well done! Moving tanks is a nightmare at the best of times haha. The buckets I was on about hold about 40 liters so 2 will do Ah of course! Its a juwel 70 liter, do you have an air pump? If so put the sponges in a small tub and put an air line under it that way you dont have to worry about rushing it all cos that can be a nightmare the air pump will make sure the filter pads are kept live and obvs use tank water to keep the pads in

I doubt a few hours is going to make much of a difference it regards to filter die off, the rate is 9% per day if there is no food, that's about 1% of the total bacteria that are going to be affected, that is if the sponges are on their own, if they're with the fish the die off rate will be a lot less.

Thanks guys! I'm about to head off to BNQ now to grab the buckets, then get back and build the stand cabinet.

I will put the fish/water/sponges into buckets, then I will move the old tank. then slide new tank in and put old water straight in.

Shall I leave the fish in the last bucket - then add new water to tank (50L more) from the tap..? THEN add the fish in after? Or other way around? I have dechlorinate, purchased more at the store.

OH, and yes I have an air pump linked to an air stone in current setup will put that under sponges.

Add the old tank water, then top up with tap, then add fish.

Stand built, tank on it time to start moving the water! Now the fun really begins!

Well, all built, filled up (transferred all but the water fish are in still atm!) and filters now running again with all old sponges

Just waiting for water to clear a bit then will transfer the fish, hopefully they'll be fine for a little longer in the bucket (i've stuck a heater in with em).

I'm knackered lol,

Here you go.. still getting rid of cloud and fish still in bucket... not happy keeping them in there for too much longer but it's really clearing up now
