I'VE JUST SET UP A NEW TANK ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO AND HAVING RECENTLY ADDED MY ANGEL FISH I'VE FOUND THAT THE FEMALES APPEAR TO GASPING FOR AIR ON THE SURFACE BUT THE MALE LOOKS HAPPY ENOUGH.THE TANK THAT I'VE SET UP IS A VISION 260 WITH JUST THE STANDARD H FILTER IN IT.COULD THIS JUST BE A CASE OF NOT ENOUGH AIR IN THE TANK.

PLEASE HELP

THANKS :/

Ditto on what tokis said, please include your water temp, also as water warms it holds less oxygen so what you said may be right, but do a water check first. 3 Angels? 2 f 1m, how do you know angels are next to impossible to sex unless mating (I'm not questioning you, rather the person who told you)

also what other fish in there?

did you accilimatise well?

What size are the fish?

on the water temp/oxygen issue is there any way you can agitate the surface more as this will help to let extra O2 into the water

Katchan

Did you cycle the tank before adding fish? If not (and I don't mean just running the tank for a certain period of time - you need to have added ammonia of some form - if you don't know what I'm talking about, you haven't cycled your tank), read through all the links in my signature. Especialy the 12 tips for beginners and the first link about new tank syndrome. Pay especialy close attention to the bits about the nitrogen cycle and adding your first fish. Do a water change with de-chlorinated water now BTW. That should help a bit.
