Forgive me, but I'm going to hijack this thread, as I've wondered if I have four of these Barilius since the summer!

Not the best of clips, I might even get some new camera shots today, if I can get to the bottom of this mystery of mine. I even wrote an "essay" PM to Heiko on here, trying to find out how several orangey/red fin-tipped Barilius can be identified from each other, only to find that Heiko has not posted enough to allow PMs!

My four have not grown much relative to what I believe are Barilius dogharsinghi, bought at the same time from Cadnam (Hampshire), labelled as "Mackeral Barbs." Heiko's discovery Barilius (two very similar in articles at PFK) are believed to max out at ~9cm SL, which is pretty close to what my mystery ones are, while Barilius canarensis are supposed to reach ~15cm. Given that the dogarsinghi are now bigger than the mystery ones and that the latter are far from skittish feeders, I'm leaning towards my mystery specimens being something other than canarensis.

Yes the topic is from some time back but the fish are now or should be circulating within the hobby hence the post.
Are they as colourful as first catalogued
Secondly...Interested to learn if this species has annual tendencies as Heiko mentions a drying pool, which under that high air temperature would suggest that it would eventually totally dry out.
Nice fish though, which would initially commend a very high price but may be off-set if my above suggestion were true and resting eggs could be distributed as per Killies.
