Im changing my 80l tank for a 35l, as it only contains a betta, 3 pygmy corys and 1 panda cory (yes i will be adding to these, long story - there will only be pygmys in there when i get more pandas, which will then go in the 180l)

So i think i want to go with a 'mountain' sort of look, made from a pile of slate covered in riccia/moss, maybe a bit of 'twiggy' wood too(not that keen on bulky bits of bogwood).

Do you think this sort of thing would be a good place to start?

Yes, it could be. But it looks a bit expensive. Here 1KG of slate is around £1.50, some netting and needles around £2 and some Riccia is £3.50 coming up to a grand total of £7, and thats even containing Riccia. Just bear in mind that you would be paying more than you should :hey:

This is amazing....................if you have a spare couple of hundred quid tho lol.

holy crap  thats crazy!!!

ok the tank has an 11w light - will riccia/moss grow under that? the plants i have in the current tank are only under a 15w but are thriving (i dose tpn+ weekly and flourish excel daily). ive got a coconut cave covered in java moss in there but it really hasnt grown at all in several months.
do i need a stronger bulb?

I got all my hardscape from a garden centre, far cheaper than an lfs!
