Here is my planted tank all opinions welcome any handy tips wouldn't be missed lol. I'm not very good at writing up about things like this so any bits that are wrong or cant be understood please point out.

my tank is a rio 180, filtration is tetratec ex700 and a small powerhead, substrate is play sand i wish i put cat litter and topped it of with play sand but its too late now. The wood i'm using some of it is bogwood from LFS which you cant really see the twigs and bits r from an oak tree lol As for plants i dont really know any latin names I only know a few simple names. Bit like me nice and simple ;)
I think i know most of the plant names in my tank, if i see it in my LFS ill buy it, don't matter what its called lol.

My plants are Anubias, 2 different types 1 is small the other has much larger leaves maybe giant anubias? i don't know lol Amazon Sword around 5 of these, very large java fern, dotted around the anubias are a few crypts again i think they are 2 different sorts 1 has redish leaves the other has green. In the center i have another kind of java i think its something like windelov?? i call it finger java because its got 5 little fingers on the end lol next to that i have round pelila tied to a piece of wood which is coming on a bit now. The carpet which i have just started is riccia which is also tied onto the twigs leaning over the middle of tank and is also growing in a ball shape inside a piece of netting. It has been tied on the twigs longer than the carpet has been down so its grown alot better. You probably can't see it but on each side of the tank i have java moss walls the right side has grown alot longer than left as its been there longer. The grass if the front right corner i havn't got a clue it looked good, so i brought some. Not even the bloke in the fish shop knew he gave me a book to read upon but that's another story lol I think thats about it all covered oh the stuff on the surface is more riccia. If i've missed something let me no.

I'm using co2 and the ferts i add are flourish excel, seems to be working ok. I would like to try dry ferts but i dont know where to start, I have seen on ebay people selling stuff you mix with 500ml of water. This interests me as its a lot cheaper if anyone does this, or has some to sell i would be interested as long as its not over pricey lol

My stocking is

3 Cardinals ( hoping to get more soon)
1 yoyo loach ( i think its a yoyo the 1s my mate have look kind of different)
2 upside-down catfish
4 Corys
2 keyholes (hoping a pair)
2 baby clown loach
1 golden sucking loach
2 flying fox
1 blue ram
1 angle fish (soon to be rehomed)

Cool! Thanks for doing this.

How do you like the playsand?

How do you like the playsand?
Its ok its obvisouly cheaper than the proper sand the only down side is i think it scratches the glass alot easier but that could also be down to letting my 4 yr old cleann it with an algae magnet when i first got it lol mistake i learnt from apart from that i cant find any reason not to use it again

I ask because I like the look of it.

It looks nice Chad. I'll get a journal up soon with some in, but the lights haven't arrived yet.

Looking good, you dosing any other ferts besides the Excel and dosing CO2?

Nah jus flourish 5ml every other day i know it should be more but it aint cheap stuff lol co2 is on 13hrs a day at 4 bps. I am intrested in dry ferts or would buy some diy ferts ready to mix with water if anyone has sum available?

I'd get some ferts containing N&P if I were you, as your dosing CO2 and excel is a CO2 substitute, but doing this your trying to force the plants to photo synthesize faster so when they run out of ferts you'll get some major deficiencies. How long are your lights on as you may be able to save yourself some CO2 as well.

I havnt got a solenoid on my setup so i turn it on and off manually the same time as my lights
