new siphon

I was wondering if there are anything you were suppost to do with a new siphon before using it on a tank. Washing it a lot with water, or anything like that?

I ask because the old siphon we were using for years has finally broken apart and we bought a new one.

Also are there any chances of a disease entering a tank through a new siphon? Thanks for the info.

Just wipe it down to remove dust and such then give it a rinse in very hot water and let it dry. Then it is ready to use. Not much chance of any disease coming in on the siphon, only dust or dirt . HTH
