I got a cherry shrimp last night. I only bought one because they were expensive and I wanted to see how it will do in the tank. I put it in my betta tank and everything is going great. I will be getting more shrimp.

On the car ride home though, I was wondering how do I do the gravel vacuum? Should I just do it as normal and try to avoid the shrimp?

The gravel vacuum is a problem for a lot of people...

My cherry shrimp are stubborn. They will jump onto the vacuum and ride it like a roller coaster.

I just gently swish the vacuum around a few times and they usually scurry away. You just need to make sure you are keeping a close eye on her, not just aimlessly vacuuming.

Congrats on your new shrimp!

Happy day...since you just have one, you could drop a cup over it to hold it in place while you do the cleaning.

Buy more if you can afford. They breed fast.
I have many shrimplets in my tank now - Fire Red, Super Blue, Tiger(wild)...
