Hello,
I have a 16 gallon freshwater tank fulled cycled. I did an infish cycle and everyone survived (yes yes.. didnt come to this forum until i actually had fish.. infish cycling is a lot of work.. but we are fully cycled now
Anyways, I bought just community freshwater fish... 4 neons, 2 platys, 3 male guppies, 3 head and tale light tetras and 3 scissortale. They all love each other and I havent had to change water for a long time which is great. All levels are within normal, ammonia 0. nitrite 0, nitrate 0 (for now). Small amount of aquarium salt in there too (i find it heals fins faster when my fish pick on eachother).
So, i decided i would get 2 more platys to make 4. I notice a HUGE difference in the platys i have had for months and the ones i just bought. They are all the same species (mickey mouse platys). My old ones have more prominent scales, they are darker in colour and have a spot of red on their tale (probably from ammonia burn... stupid cycling). The new ones are light yellow, cannot barely see scales, i can actually almost see through them, no red.
Just wondering if my old platys are showing differently because of possibly ammonia burns.. and thats why they look different.
I know this is a stupid question, but i was shocked when i got my fish home and they look totally different
