Had these buggars many years ago. Decided to try live plants again and whom comes free with live plants???

So they say that loaches eat snails, what are the best forsure kinds of loaches that will eat them or anything else that will eat them would be great.

Hehe, it happens to the best of us :p

Depending on the size of your tank, clowns are a great option; if your tanks a bit smaller go for yoyos :good:

You can usually buy a snail rid treatment from your LFS which is a mild copper sulfate solution and generally won't hurt fish.

Hi bugsy66 :)

I usually treat my plants with a product called Had a Snail before I put them into a tank. I have a few nice red ramshorns that I want to breed true and I'd be very unhappy if I introduced brown ones into the population. I would never recommend using such a product on an established tank though.

Depending on what kinds of plants you have, you might want to try adding an apple snail. They won't eat the snails themselves, but they will eat their eggs and keep them from reproducing. Then you can gradually pick them out by hand until they are gone.

you could buy a snail trap or put a peice of cucumber at night when they are most active and keep removing that every morning

People who always say "nothing's free" have never bought plants for an aquarium because they always come with free snails. Good luck.

just feed them alot less, than you normally would and they should go down, this is what i did and they've nearly all gone

The picture of your snail in your reply is what they look like but there are tons of them.

My tank is 25 gal so I think a clown loach would be to big for it. I could always get one though and when it becomes to big I can trade it in, my LFS is very good about that.

The plants I have are Val, Cabomba, Lutwig

Years ago I used that snail away stuff and wiped out the whole tank including the fish. Not a fan of those things so I would rather get a fish or do the cucumer thing instead. I have been picking them out as I can get them.

So a yoyo loach is goo too??

Do the loaches actually eat the whole snail or just the meat of them??

A mild salt bath works nicely on snails too, especially if it's marine salt, 1 part salt 9 parts water dunk em in and no more snails ^_^
