New Peacock Gobies!

Finally got a chance to go to my LFS and get some Peacock Gobies! :yahoo:

I got a male and a female! They are beautiful fish, and a little shy since I just added them. I am a little disapointed thought, it appears the male has a bad case of "nemo" fin, and instead of a healthy fin he has a bald nub :shout:

Don't know if he had it in the store or I somehow caused it, but he's more shy than the female. Not fin rot, and otherwise he's really healthy looking. Hopefully some TLC with StressCoat, NLS, bloodworms, and good water will encourage some healing or maybe some regrowth. I'll post pics soon, water is cloudy from adding plants, and I don't want anyone to see :look:

They were out of kuhlis, which made me sad 'cause I was keen on getting some more :hyper:

Oh, and their names are Arthur and Guinivere :blush:

i quite like the look of peacocks...dont sell them round here though. I will look into them a bit more...what water stats do they prefer??

They prefer 72-80 degrees farenheit and prefer soft, neutral and slightly alkaline ph. My temp is 78 and ph is 7.6 so its perfect for them. Clean water is a must (as for all fish) and they love caves, natural or PVP pipe

They'll get even more fab once the new life spectrum kicks in and the stress goes away. I feel really bad for the male, while Gunivere is exploring the tank, he's cowering in the amazon swords....Maybe I hurt his fin with the net? I hope not :no:

I found some for sale here, but there more expensive than what my LFS had them going for, plus you can't order males or females, its random chance

Hayley, they are wonderful fish, colourful, peaceful, easy to spawn, easy to tell gender. Try looking on Aquarist Classifieds for someone who can do mail order, when I was looking for mine, I found somewhere near Abingdon, Oxfordshire that sells them, then walked in to my local LFS (by chance) and there they were. My local MA also had one, so MA can sometimes get hold of them.

You're best off getting them in equal quantities of male/female.
