I have one very similar to that off ebay. Its and EDEN 501. Slightly different design in the top, black sponge instead of yellow and I didnt get any carbon. Cant remember how much I paid for it, but it wasnt very expensive.
I have had it for about 8 or 9 months with no problems at all. There is a small tube by the intake for the pump (inside the filter) that sucks out any air. Thats the only time its noisy. I'm sat about 4 feet from it and the fans in my computer and the bubbles poping in the water are louder than the pump.
When I first got it, I had to cut down the spray bar so it would fit in my tank and I couldnt have the filter at the side of the tank because the pipes wernt long enough. I wanted the inlet at 1 side of the tank and the spray bar on the other side. Its now sat behind my tank and I have just spotted a freakin snail
Anyway, the tanks now in a different room so I have room behind it to put the filter.
Overall, for the money I paid for it, I am very happy with it
