Just signed up to this forum. We have a tropical aquarium at home so there are loads of things that I want to find out!

I do have a question though. I home educate my children and they have asked me what fish fry are. I have answered that they are baby fish but they want to know when they are not fish fry anymore lol. Do they have to be a certain age or size or anything? Also, are baby crabs and lobsters fish fry .. I said that I didn't think they were but I cannot find out anywhere!! Can anyone help me please?[/font] :)

Crabs and lobsters are crustaceans, not fish, so no, their offspring are not fish fry.

Good morning and welcome to the forum! :good: I also home educate. as a rule, I quit calling my baby fish "fry" when they are about half an inch and start looking like the adults. I don't know if that is right, but that's what I do.

Same here. Once they start acting like adults, looking like adults, and eating like adults, i stop calling them fry.

I home educate too! There's no actual scientifically accepted moment when fry become fish, unfortunately; I have tried finding it out myself recently.

I agree with the other posters really; probably when the fry get their adult colours.
