New Jersey! Willing To Donate Filter Media?

Hi, I live in new jersey, I saw the list of people for mature filter media donations but I cannot find anyone neer me. Is there anyone in new jersey, US that can donate filter media. Well I live in the southern part of new jersey.. near Philedelphia. Could someone pleaasseee give me some?? I am also not so sure what it is but I do not it will help my new tank cycle.

You know, I thought I did remember seeing a member in NJ a while back. Maybe someone else will remember them.

I think Lioness is too far north above Philly??

If you're going on any trips this summer, that might be a possibility - seeing if someone in that area could give you MM just before you came home...

The filter media is the stuff that is in the filter pack. Usually it is carbon althouh most of us don't use the carbon as it has to be changed. The best type of filter media is probably the ceramic rings. The y are pourous and offer a massive surface area for the bacteria to colonize Of course, sponges also work well and do double duty as both a mechanical (remove the junk) filter and a biological (place for the bacteria) filter. It really depends on the type filter you have as to what type media you may be able to use.
