Yea im in the process of getting more caves made up. As for the sand its pritty deep but i can try add more.

Just to give you a rough guide. I have an inch of JBL Aquabasis+, and then 2-3 inches of sand on top of that (2 at the front, 3 at the back). And my stems still float away sometimes if I don't push them deep enough and they have no roots.

Gravel holds plants much better than sand so you could put a small amount of gravel around each stem to hold it, and then just cover it with sand so you can't tell.

Yea the sand is about 2 inch all over so may have to be gravel. Is there a plec i could get to go in? Something small that will stir up the sand as i dont want these toxic air pockets ive read about

you'd be better with MTS (malasian trumpet snails), in fact you can have some of mine if you'd like - I've loads of babies. They're great for stirring up the sand. There is debate about whether these toxic pockets even occur, but I think probably better safe than sorry.

You could probably have a bulldog plec or a bristlenose if you really want a plec - they only get little. In the plec section there's a list of plecs that are suitable for small tanks.

Way too many folks worry about this.
It's nothing to be concerned with. If any gas did build up and then get released then it rockets so quickly to the surface that the water wouldn't absorb any of it anyway.
Never had a problem with gas pockets in 8years.

The hydrogen sulfide that forms is oxidized on contact with water anyway and is reduced into sulphur dioxide and sulphur gas.

Red Clawed Crabs are an amphibious, brackish species, totally unsuitable.
