New Home For My Rams

Well heres my tank that i found at the local tip i added the black angle bead and made a hood with light.

Before:

After:

Added sand a juwel background and a few plants and its a totally different tank. Just waiting on my external filter to arrive and the Rams can move in.

just a note Craig: take your stems out of the little rings & plant them seperately a few cms apart. The bottom bits will rot if you leave them all bunched together like that

How deep's your sand? Can you put a bit more in? Then you can wedge them further in? Failing that, a bit of gravel around the base, or a stone to keep them down until they root.

Unfortunately that is the down side to bunched plants - no roots means nothing to keep them in the substrate, but if you leave them in the pots they will rot... I'd recommend next time you buy potted ones with roots rather than bunches.

One thing I would suggest if you haven`t thought about it already is to put a few more cave areas in the tank, Rams do tend to harass tank mates/opposite sex and they need a few places to hide otherwise they`ll stress and likely die

Agree - a whole pile of coconut caves would look really good all piled up. So multiple caves on multiple levels? With moss growing over them that would look really good, bring them forward a bit out of the corner and plant around and behind them too..
I'm assuming you still want to go in on a plant order at some point? In the meantime I'll probably be thinning out a few stems in a couple of weeks so you're welcome to have a few off me if you'd like? They'll have roots so won't float away so easily

Is that gravel substrate? If so you'll want to swap it out for sand, Rams belong in the Microgeophagus genus, which translates as mini earth-eater, so sand is essential.

Yea im in the process of getting more caves made up. As for the sand its pritty deep but i can try add more.

If you're gonna have plants in sand, you will need around 2 inches
