they need cleaning and soaking but there all oak, and look to of been dead for a long time, there also hollow

Where do you live, and I can just throw dead pieces of wood (after being cleaned) into my tank and it'll be safe? :D

yes you can =D, well i do it... theres always chance of some harmfuls on them but yer, i found these by a bog,i live in norfolk, i'll doument the process of cleaning them if you want... just avoid sappy woods, these are all oak

Yeah, if you could! I'm a bit cash poor atm, and would love some diy.

im the cheapest person around :p, why buy wood when you can make your own =d

you need to let it soak, In a seperate container until the wood is completely soaked. My last piece took about 3 weeks.

i know iv got a waterbut for it already set up

where do you think i got my wood from bottom of the garden and wow nice collection there i love bits with sticky parts sticking out :p and the large chunk that looks like a Y i like too :p

dont really need to let it soak just need to know if the wood is dead :p if its fully dead, AKA completely dried of sap, i know you know this mike but its for the other peeps :p haha soaking it will just let it sink but why not soak it in the tank :p put a rock over it or something and eventually it will stay sunken thats all i did but still clean it best way for that is kettle a bath tub and poor boiling water over it :p
