New 'girl'

Went to the LFS today they had a tank full of young 'females' but on close inspection i saw at least 5 males so one came home with me

i am certain its male, the fins are longer than the females were but 'it' is still very small, only an inch

if 'it' does turn out to be female i'll be getting some more girlies for the 15 gal if male he'll get the run of a 6 gal. will try get some piccys later

Bless the last time I was browsing a tank of females I spotted a fair few males. The LFS wasn't having it though, even though there was flaring and fighting going on. "they have short fins, they're girls" was the reply I got, LOL

i accidently said him as the bloke bagged it and he said no her

my last pk was from a group of girls but someone returned him, then i got him for the price of a girl so was very pleased i only usually get VTs round here.

'it' looks an awful lot like my old female though, everyone on here originally said male for her, but was deffo female

that one was female, the new one is the same colour but the fins are a little longer hence thinking male

I know when we order in female fighters at least half of them are short finned male. Its only until about a week and they settle down in the tanks they show they're true colours and personality!

If it has longer fins, and a very pointy anal fin, plus a "full beard" when flaring, then i'd go with male. I like PK males, lots of personality

cant get it to flare yet but has the pointy anal fin which is what drew me to thinking male, but so did the old female i had. Either way 'it' (really must stop calling it 'it') will be going into the 60l on tuesday with shrimpy until its deffo on or the other then i can get some piccys too

HE settled in the 60l very well and went from this:

then started flaring at all the live plants, i have been trying with a mirror since i brought him silly little one now i shall give him a name

so got my beaut little guy at the bargin price of £1.65 makes me want to go grab another one now, there was a nice pale bluey one

very happy with him, you'd pay £4 for a VT round here now to find him a suitable name
