New Fronnies

All 3 babies looking good this morning. The little skinny one actually came out from her hiding place this morning so say hello. I was a bit worried as all her fins were clamped and seemed pale but she soon opened them all out when she was in the middle of the tank and flushed her colour, they are so beautiful when they do that. I have overfed them this morning so she has plenty of time to have a pick at the food, will go up about lunchtime and net out all the uneaten food. This is so nerve wracking lol.

she made it through the night then good

its looking good

Keep up the good work hon, I know how you feel, I used to look every morning and wonder if I had any left.

The little one is still hanging in :) was actually first up for food this morning and actually fed quite well for her taking 5 bits of tetra prima, she seems to prefer this to anything else I have tried. I have over fed again this morning so she can continue to pick and will net out the uneaten stuff lunchtime, but I think tomorrow I will put in less so she actually starts to feed at feeding time (I hope!!!!). I keep calling her a she because for some reason I have a feeling she is female (most likely wrong lol).

I am starting to feel confident enough to start thinking of a name for her. Any suggestions welcome lol

:) nice to know the frontie is pulling through :p

You an grow attached to a fish easly  :good: They sound happy and so do you.

Hopefully our little skinny friend will put on weight

Good Luck.

And Have a good 2010. :good:

Skinny miss is still here :good: although now starting to look less skinny.

I have had to put the group together, my male convict was trying to kill the female and had to sperate him and the only tank available was the quaranteen tank the fronnies were in.

Once I bagged up the fronnies it was quite hard to tell the skinny one from the other 2, she has really filled out, just half a tail smaller. After they were aclimatised and released with my other 3 (Mary, Mungo and Midge) the skinny one soon made friends with my smallest one (Mary) and have been inseperabe since. The other two had a good display and my other 3 but my largest one (mungo) (who is only about 1/2cm bigger) is not a happy fella, he went completely black and showed his evil eye (they can turn their eyes from black to almost white! really spooky) but after about 20 mins of displaying and shooing the others away from "his" cave, they all settled down better. They are still arguing over which spots in the tank they want as they all seem to want the same spot lol. I have decided to call the little one Minxy because I cant keep calling her the skinny one lol and she seems to have such a sweet nature, the other 2 for now are Mish and Mash. The downfall now is telling them all apart. So I have

Mungo - the leader (so far)
Mish & Mash (cant tell them apart)
Midge easy to spot as he has a little black mark under his bottom lip like a gotee beard lol
Mary & Minxy again almost identical except Mary has her middle stripe going to a "v" shape.

They are a beautiful site together. Thank you again Mags for the swap.

Update: The 3 little Fronts from Minxy are doing great, the littlest one has grown and caught up with the other 5 and is starting to be a bolshy devil at feeding time, first up for food and chasing the others! she is a minx lol.

The 9 rescue fronts are also looking better, all the fins are healing lovely. I am still concerned about the pin marks in their heads, but with daily water changes and huge filtration on the tank the marks are slowly dissapearing. All are feeding well and absolutely LOVE prawns and the 5 larger ones will now take prawns from my fingers, although the end of my finger ends up in their mouths too! I am concerned about the smallest one in the group, I may yet try him/her with the 6 pack, but not for another week or so as this group are still in quaranteen.

Update: All 3 of minxy's fronnies are doing great, little Minxy still causes the occasional worry with colour loss for a few days, but then she seems to go ok again. They are finally in their next grow out tank only a 180l but it will be fine for a couple of months till I get other projects moved round, then they can fill out more in a 300l before going to the 400l (unless they really sprout up then they might go straight into the 400l). Its great their tank is next to the computer and all 6 are swimming up and down watching me watching them lol

It is with a heavy heart, I am sad to report that 2 of the little Fronts I had from Minxyfish died this morning. Constantly they have lost colour a couple of times a week since I took them on, Dispite all my efforts and them feeding well they both passed away this morning. RIP little ones.
