Picked up my 3 new fronnies today from Minxy, they are so lovely, the one is a little thin. But the good news is all their colour has come flooding back really quickly. I have them in a quaranteen tank for the next week mainly to keep and eye on the smaller weaker one, here's hoping they all make it. Cant wait to get the group together!! I may put them together sooner as I think they would be better with mine.

congratulations on them, i'm just checking they are frontosas right lol?
When i see them in store i want to buy them but my brother said you can get better breeds as their blue colours weren't out. So once they get in to your tank depending on the water quality they would always come out better looking? well usually in lfs shop they are stressed from all the tapping and small tanks.
Hope the small skinny one gets fat & healthy :)

Glad they made it home ok, hope the little chap pulls thru ok

The Ellioti's are having a great time, all over the tank, happy as larry and gobbled down food as soon as it went in too :D

Sorry yes Frontosa lol. Just sneaked up to check on them again (they are in my room where its quiet) and all 3 are out in the open swimming about. The little skiiny one has had a nibble to eat. I am over the moon at that.

Mags, I forgot to say those are right greedy little devils, dispite being fed 3 times a day they will still jump out of the water to take food from my hands. They are going to LOVE your tank and soon grow. I just hope they dont upset Harry lol

Sounds like a great solution for you both - hope the frontosa trio make it now. Star, you make the Ellioti sound more like pirhanas....

Suprisingly Harry isnt taking any notice of them, they seem to like the geophagus alot for some strange reason. Will post pics once they are settled and as they grow :good:

Pleased to report the little skinny front is still with us this morning :) not eating great but had a little pick at food this morning. The other 2 seem to be doing fine, although a little shocked that their world has shrunk for the time being. I am going to keep the 3 together as I think the little one would be too stressed on its own and give up all together. All 3 have good colour this morning as I can't tell the difference between them unless I look at their bellies lol. Fingers crossed the little one makes it!

Glad to hear they survived the night, lets hope the little ones pulls thru, Im sure if anyone can fatten her up and make her better, its you :)

Wow hun, thanks for the boost of confidence lol. You know I will do my absolute best for them.

:good: Good Luck with them.

They Do look Cute! Would like to see them in there Tripod. :good:

We can put hope the little one does make it, I am confident there is no infections or anything.

Sadly Santa didnt bring me a new camera lol. I am going to leave them settling for a while yet before I try taking any pics with my camera, it chooses to work when it feels like it!. I keep popping upstairs and talking to them so they get use to me (hubby thinks I am completely nuts, but I talk to all my fish and turtles). I am iching to add them to my 3 fronts, but I must be patient lol.

Ive just been to Hollybush, near Cannock and they have LOADS of Fronts, £12 each, about 3" up to 5" in size, just in case you wanted to get more for the 5ft :good: Unbelievable as when I was looking for some, couldnt find any

They also had 4 Daemons too :hyper: which I so very nearly bought.

I'm really glad to hear that the little one is hanging in there, atleast he or she is trying to eat a little. I know they will survive because there in your hands and you have the patient to wait before you put them in.
Do you know how to check if they are male or female?

Minxy you rotter lol, I am not having any more! lol

Thanks didz04 that will really make my head swell lol. I am no expert Frontosa keeper, I am new to it. From all the info I have read so far, its almost impossible to tell males from females untill you see one spawning then the one laying the eggs is the female lol. Saying that I can see very very small differences in the anal fin shape of mine at this age, but which is male and which is female I can only guess.

Do Frontosa prefer to be in groups ?

I have just one and he is often dark in color. He brightens up at feeding time. I also found that my Brichardi was picking on him even though he is way bigger (about 4 inches), so I am now setting up a bigger tank.

Considering getting more....but they get SO BIG !
