Barely any difference at all. Couis microlepis is identified as having 5 to 7 thin dark vertical bands on its body and Datnoids pulcher has 3 wider dark vertical bands, these are not including the one through the eye or the tail. Datnoids pulcher is thought to get slightly bigger though both species are likely to top out at around 10 to 12 inches in captivity.
