I just got a new 40 gallon hexagon tank. Any ideas on fish? i was thinking maybe 2 oscars but im not sure becuase i am kind of new to the hobby.

Oscars grow up to 16" (usually slightly smaller), so are not an option. Your best bet for a hexagonal tank would be small community fish, such as tetras, and maybe a couple of dwarf cichlids (such as Apistogramma), but the cichlids would depend on the bottom area of the tank.. what would that be?

I agree with KittyKat; you'r 40 gallon is not going to be suitable for oscars.

I'm not a big fan of this 'new' fashion of describing tanks by volume; I much prefer the old '24x12x15" (or whatever)' method :)

Thanks. I got some community fish after you told me that.
