New Fish At Petsmart!

I paid £8.95 each for my GBRs but my lfs is more expensive but very good quality, i dont mind paying for quality, they have GBRs in PetsatHome (national chain) for like £3.99 but the quality is seriously lacking, some of the GBRs are really overbred, as long as your happy with the quality of them :good:

Bolivians always been a little cheaper IME

Then again fish like electric blue rams are coming down in price too, when i first saw them they were at £14.95, now they are £8.95, similar with gold rams

I just bought 5 Bolivian rAms and i have no idea if we succeeded in sexing them. i need to post the 3 gouramia to make ssure i got 1 m and 2 females.

This post came just in time as I am working on a stock list for 46gl.

Both Rams and Julii's are in the top 5!

Just make sure you know the difference bewteen Julii & Threelined Corys. Many places, including PetCo, sell the Threelined (False Juliis) as Juliis. They are a bit different in size & requirements. I prefer the False Juliis myself...............

They had false jullii. I thought about trading my bandit cries and getting them..the bandits need cooler water and its hard to balance with the angelfish

By the way, Thanks a lot Ruskell! We had my QT tank all ready to get my gouramis today, and we came home with 5 Blolivian rams too. After the fiasco with the apistos I had wanted rams in my 75g instead. I need to post the pics of the gouramis later, I hope I sexed them correctly.

No problem! I figured somebody would want to know & I'm glad you got Bolivians & Gouramis too. Post pics and I'll see if I can sex the Gouramis for you, I've become quite the expert with them as long as they're mature enough to tell. You got Opalines? They can be really mean if your tank isn't big enough. They're for your 75 gallon right? The males are especially striking looking fish.

The German Blue Ram specimens they had were beautiful in color but very small, like only an inch. The Bolivians were a bit larger, like 1.5 inches but they were noticably less awesome looking than the GBR's. I might be tempted to add a pair of the Bolivians to my son's 20 gallon. His pH, and all of our tank's pH levels have come down quite a bit lately, and maybe it's low enough for them. His tank occupants should be able to handle a slight increase in temperature too.

The bolivians will be fine in a ph of 6.something-7.5 I think and they'll be fine with temp at 78, so if there's room I'd say sure.

They are actually three-spot gouramis, I was excited and typing with my phone. They are for the 46g, but all that will be with them there are 3 platies and albino cories, at some point we would like a small school in there. It will stay mostly understocked. I am putting them in a qt tank for awhile to make sure my fish are really healthy everywhere.

ANyone know if I could qt the gouramis and bolivians together for 2 days in a 10g. I want to do an ich treatment, one of them has a potential white spot. It doesn't seem big enough, but it's not for long.

That would be appropriate for the price then if they are only young, I would say that 20gallons is a bit small for bolivians, only my opinion as some grow a full 4-5 inches, rams or apistos would be better suited really, im not sure bolivians require that much of a higher temp either

Thanks. I've heard that the German Blues do best around 82 degrees and that Bolivians are a bit less, like maybe 78. His tank keeps temp at around 76-77 right now so Bolivians wouldn't require raising the temp more than a couple of degrees. As far as the tank not being large enough for a pair of Bolivians, I'd upgrade the tank eventually, maybe even to my 36 gallon bowfront. I was thinking of getting a bigger tank for the Gouramis :shifty:

That 36 bowfront is on sale this week for $140 ruskull, but the aqueon 29 gallon kit is also on sale but for $80 :p I got mine for $70.

It was $230 last week? I paid $170 for a floor model if I remember correctly........

 That's it! I'm outta here................. :grr:

Ha! I just checked and it's $249.99 on their website

Look at the local ad, may be different there but the website took me to a generic one without asking me for a zip so idk.
