Went to my first fish expo today!

It was rather small, only around 12 vendors, but still very cool. I noticed they were mostly selling plecos and cichlids, which was interesting. There was one vendor selling livebearers, but nothing special. Some plants and driftwood, along with a few bettas, rams, and puffers as well.

I got my first plants and driftwood today, and I’m very excited to put them in my 10g tank at my high school library! (You can read that thread here). Most of these will stay in the 10g, but the large Anubis and probably some Vallis will eventually be transferred back to my 30g when I redo it.

$15 dollars worth of Anubis for $10. The vendor gave me a free $5 one because the expo was almost over :D

$5 dollars worth of jungle Vallisneria. 15-20 plants and runners.

And my personal favorite, 2 pieces of driftwood for $15 dollars. They were originally one piece, but the vendor cut them apart. Now I have two pieces for my two different tanks! Now, I’m not sure where it came from or how to treat it, so it’s not going in my tank yet. How do I go about making sure this is safe?

Soak the wood in a bucket of water outside for a month and change the water every day or two. that should help remove anything toxic that might come out of the wood.
