New Filter

I have been offered an aps ef2000 external filter for £20 recently, bargin I know but will this cause my tank to turn into a washing machine? All I know is that it does 2k LPH and I have a 120l tank giving me a turn over of 15or so times an hour, also it doesn't come with and inlet or outlet bar, just the tubing . Could I make a longer spraybar to lower the sloshing affect?

The 2000 model does nowhere near the manufacturer stated 200ph. When you take into account the media inside it actually turns over around 950lph which is an terrible drop. If you were to use the spray bar provided with the filter then I think it would be fine for your tank. I had the exact same model (but with UV which was useless) on a 180 litre and it was OK for the money. Be worth getting for £20

Just noticed the part where you said it only comes with tubes lol you would need to buy or make one as without it the filter will be too powerful for the tank. My spraybar came off before on my EF2000 and sand from the bottom of the tank went everywhere lol

Ah it's ok I have a mate who's a plumber, he should have enough of everything lying around, failing that I have a mate who works at B&Q so it's all good, most worried about the size now as its a whopper! How tall/wide is it "in the plastic" I'm worried I won't be able to fit it in/ under my cabinet

Your right in saying its a big filter lol it's 290mm x 290mm x 485mm high. It was too wide to fit in my juwel vision 180 cabinet so I just put it by the side of the tank.

Yea thanks man I did have a look last night, bit strapped for cash ATM and would like to get it in ASAP cos the media is cycled
