New Filter

I have just purchased a Eheim external filter to replace my Aqua one external filter.

I intend to do set my Eheim up in a 2 gallon tank, do my regular water change on my 125 ltr tank, use the waste water in my 2 gallon tank and build the bacteria up in the new filter that way.

I know it would be easier to take the media out of the Aqua one and put it into the Eheim but i want to use the new Eheim filter media in the new filter.

Would this work and how long would i have to run the filter for the bacteria be up to a suitable level.

Any comments and advice would be greatly appreciated

Water holds almost no bacteria to be of any use, your best bet is take 1/3 of the aqua media and place it your new filter then do a fish less cycle

Thanks guys...will be reading up on here how to do the fishless cycle and get the filter up and ready
