I went to my LFS yesterday and I saw this little cutie and I had to have him!

I'm still a little confused, because he's so tiny... I first thought it was a girl... Maybe you guys can help! :good:

He is handsome. I am sure he is male. But you might want to add a little bit of aquarium salt it looks like he has cut finnage or fin rot. whats his name gonna be?

I have no idea what I should name him. I think he may have had some damage before I bought him, but who knows. I would put salt in with him, but I've got him in a small beanie baby box atm, so I don't want to dose too much... what do you suggest? He's extremely tiny. Only about 1.5 inches or so. I hope he'll be able to grow the rest of his fins out!

Those beanie boxes are small are you going to upgrade later? Umm are they about 1/2 a gallon? If so maybe either 1/4 teaspoon or 1/2 a teaspoon. Depends if you normally put a teaspoon per gallon or 1/2 teaspoon per gallon.

Hmmm he is sooo handsome. I can't think of any names for him....

I'm definitely going to upgrade later, I just have to get the tank for him. I've never actually dosed my water with salt, so what would you recommend? And I have some salt, but I'm not sure if it's the right kind... It's called: Doc Wellfish's Aquarium Salt... and the crystals are quite big... Is that ok?

That salt would be fine but go for the lower dosage since you've never used it before and he's still small. Also, make shure you fully dissolve that salt in water BEFORE adding it to the tank. Otherwise you can give the fish serious burns or even kill it.

Wow, the poor guy is really emaciated. If he doesn't start putting on weight soon I'd worry about disease. He looks characteristic of the wasting that happens with TB, but simple starvation and a few other illnesses will give the same effect. I'd be careful not to let anything he has come in contact with touch your other fish, at least for a week or two while you see if he gains some weight back for you.

Yeah, I can't believe the way I found him, but hopefully he'll be ok. I've been feeding him bloodworms, trying to pull his weight back up and I've been changing the water as much as I can. I was actually about to do it now. I'm really worried about him... I hope he'll be ok! :/ Do you have any more suggestions Synirr? I know you are pretty much the TFF betta expert, so any other advice of yours would greatly be appreciated. B)

Do you what kind of color he is? He looks like Copper and MG to me.
I have no idea, honestly. I would love any suggestions. He's definitely a weird color.

:/ Bless him, he is so cute. I hope he will be Ok. I always under dose with salt just to be on the safe side.

UPDATE! (8/24/06)

Well, he's been growing his fins very quickly and has been flaring constantly. I thought I would share a pic of him for you all! His colors seem to be light blue and pink... The first pic doesn't really show those colors, but it shows the fin growth. Enjoy. :hey:

Today I might be going to WalMart to get a minibow... just have to get confirmation from the parents. Here's a picture of my other betta, Melvin, just for kicks.
