New Dt Boy

Wow they both are lovely. :D Mr. DT is adorable... he still looks really skinny though. Has he put on weight since you got him? If not I'd be a bit concerned; he might have internal parasites. :/

Honestly, he looks better and is acting a lot better than when I first got him. I have been feeding him bloodworms almost everyday, to put on the weight. If he's got internal parasites, wouldn't that diminish his health, rather than make it better? I haven't been worried too much about him, because he has been getting so much better. His fins have grown emmensly, and his attitude has come out a lot. His colors have gotten a lot brighter as well. I don't know. Should I feed him more pellet food for nutrients? Or stick with bloodworms?

I just got the OK to get the minibow, woo!

Congrats on the new tank! ^_^

I've never personally dealt with internal parasites, so don't this as bible truth... this is only going off what I've read. Apparently there aren't many symptoms, but one of the biggies is weight loss even though the fish is eating normally. White or stringy poop is another sign. If he's active, and is pooping normally, though, just keep that belly full. Feed him twice a day if you don't already, and feed him rich foods like various frozen foods (bloodworms are good, just as long as that's not all you feed). Maybe one meal of frozen foods and one meal of pellets. :)

The fin growth does look great though, he's colored up very nicely. :D

Aww, man, now I can't have a spawn log. No, seriously, good luck with your spawn! Your bettas are really pretty, too.

His poo is normal. I'll start to feed him twice a day. He gobbles down the bloodworm(s) (I only feed him one or two, since the bloodworm is usually and long as him!) I'll have to get some more pellets. Thanks for all your help, lisie! :good: B)

You can have a spawn log! These boys aren't spawning any time soon. (I'll spawn the DT when I find a cute girlie). I'm just updating everyone about the baby DT, since he was so emaciated when I got him. I'm just letting everyone know he's growning his fins back and eating me out of house and home! :shout:

EDIT: Actually, thank you everyone for all of your suggestions! I'll update this more when he grows more fins and when I get him a little girlie. :D

Haha, wow I'm dumb. I mean to post this on the spawn log.. but either way, that betta is magnificent!

Hey, you're not dumb. We all make weird mistakes sometimes. :fun: Thank you for the compliment! ;)

He looks great! I've dealt with emaciated fish before, and as a tip, I find that tadpole pellets really help put weight on. They have high fat and protien, plus plenty of good nutrition; they're like a richer version of a betta pellet (very similar ingredients and calcium/phosphorus ratio), and they have high moisture to boot so they don't cause constipation. It might be more nutritionally balanced than a diet of just blood worms, though blood worms definately rock for putting weight on as well.
Keep us posted with pictures! What a great find!
