Ok so I've mainly been (well completly been) feeding my fish on flake, shrimp pellets, and freeze dried bloodworms, I got a pair of blue rams today and it was suggested to me that I should get frozen brine shrimp to really bring their color out and seeing how beautiful they are right now to seem the look even better would be spectacular, so I bought some frozen brine shrimp, and tonight at feeding time i decided instead of feeding my rasporas and barbs and cories normal flakes and shrimp pellets I'd give the frozen stuff a try and I have NEVER seen my fish so excited and FULL you could acctually see the rasporas bellys buldging but I was only feeding a bit at the time (only defrosted a small pinch in the first place) and they just kept eating it I don't think but a few made it to the bottom and those were quickly ingulfed by the cories, so needless to say I think I found my fishys favorite foods now, and I don't know if they're going to like me for giving them flakes tomorrow after the treat they got today (and will continue to get a couple times a week)

They'll probably spit the flakes right back at you. :grr:

If you really want to be entertained, try some live food. My fish always get a kick out of chasing down their food.

If you're interested in trying some other foods, I've tried frozen glassworms, daphnia, bloodworms, and mysis shrimp (all very popular). I'm still trying to find some frozen squid bites.

Another popular choice is dried seaweed. My rams and krib (with most of the other fish) love the stuff as well.

Hope this unsolicited info is helpful

very helpful, I defently would love to get away from flakes, I just used them because they were free when I started keeping aquariums and my fish liked to eat them so I just kept feeding it to them, now that I've been on here a while I've discovered that there is much better out there and after experiencing it first hand will definetly be looking into other foods.

Yup, frozen is definitely better than flake and even pellet foods, as they are much more nutricious and the fish seem to like them a lot more. They tend to improve the overall health of the fish, boost their immune system and whatnot. In fact, some people feed their fish on a diet of exclusively frozen and live foods, as they are much more suitable for the fish's dietary needs.
