New Cory

Hi all,

Just thought I'd post a few pics of my new Corydora's, there's two of them but one's a bit camera shy! I wouldn't mind if someone could confirm there variety, the LFS did tell me, but like a dick I've forgotten. I suspect they are Corydoras Sterbai but you will note that they have pink pectoral fins and not the normal orange. Would I be right?

They certainly seem to have settled in well enough and both are fairly active. One has taken to laying on the air stone which is quite amusing as he seems surprised every time a bubble come up!

Definately a Sterbai and a lovely looking one at that!

What sort of size tank do you have because they would sure love to be in a bigger group! Its more fun with a group of them, they do the 'happy dance' up the glass as a group and all sleep together

Sterbais for sure One of my fav Corys, higher temp that the rest and as big a group as you can fit.

Looks like C. sterbai to me, happy at 24C, but will tolerate upto 28C better than most corydoras.

I really do miss seeing my group of ten who shared my Rio240 with eleven young Brochis splendens back in the summer, before I realised I had an impending bottom dwelling fish crisis (too many catfish, especially Synodontis), amazing to see them swarm across the tank floor.

Yep, I seem to have got a pair of brilliant Cory's! I intend to get about 4 more eventually, not sure whether to keep them all the same or to add other Cory varieties, but I do like these so may stick with them. The pair of them already do the happy dance! One in particular (the one that seems to like having his picture taken) does it for hours on end! Really entertaining to watch.

As to the tank, it's a 64L Interpet Fishbox (now called fishpod I think) which is planted and has natural slate and bogwood. I am keeping only small communal fishes and currently have Neon Tetras, Cardinals, Harlequin Rasboras, Guppies, Endlers and Platy's, oh and one Pearl Danio that has been with us for about 5 years!
