I set-up a new African Cichlid's tank last week and everything seems to be going fine.
Just wondering, what other kinds of fish (if any) can be mixed with the African Cichlids?

Thanks.

The only fish are bottom fish such as synos, bristlenose and cae.

nope - water conditions also wrong if you want the fish to be happy.

African Cichlids are agressive compared to other areas of the world, therefore i would only suggest syno's and maybe one or two suitable plec types :D

I'm not familiar with these species (synos, bristlenose and cae).

Where on this site would I find more info on them

Check out the Catfish section here on the forum and also Planetcatfish.com

Syno's is short for Synodontis
Bristlenose is a Bristlenose Plec
CAE is Chinese algae eater

What fish have you got so far?
Trying to keep most species of African in a 20g is pushing it.

Well spoted sherlock holmes....

20G is probably not big enuff for some malawi cichlids, maybe some shell dwellers but nothing else sorry man...

how big are the cichlids at the moment and which ones are they?

your twenty gallon tank, please could you give us the dimensions just so that we can tell how much room your little guys are in...

I'm sure that they may be 'fine' or doing well at the moment, but 20Gal is really too small for a cichlid tank in my opinion.

Various web sites give out lots of information about 'fish keeping/husbandry' of these fish and for the life of me i can not remember anywhere stating that 20Gal is big enuff.

Several say that you could if pushed usee a 30Gal tank as long as the footprint is 30" long - but like i said, please could you tell us the dimensions of the tank to put our minds at ease :D

Tank size = 24x12x16 (LxWxH) What is the ideal tank size?

There are 5 and they are about 1.5 in long and look like the one in your sig.
