Sad day today, found our angelfish sucked up against the filter inlet deaded
sad.png
checked the water etc and levels all perfect so no idea what happened to the poor boy/girl... this has left me with a dilemma though, he was fab and didnt attack anything and im scared of getting another angel incase their temperament isnt so compatible, but i do want a centrepiece fishy as without batista the tank looks really sparse - he really completed the look of the tank... so im after ideas of what would work. I'd like something either colourful or striking and a nice shape, pref something that would work with one (2 at most - not after a shoal really) - any ideas would be welcome!!

A type of gourami?
Depending on your tank size and stocking a dwarf gourami could work.

What size tank and what other fish? African butterfly fish are awesome, but they'll eat small fish and can't stand the flow...peacock gudgeons are really cool too

kribensis cichlid pair but im not sure what they will be like with the rest of your fish, cant really think of anything else other than gouramis but id personally avoid the 3 spot gouramis as they can be aggressive and have a look at moonlight gouramis or pearl gouramis

sorry to hear about your fishie :)

tank is a long 170 ish litre, 4 foot long, around 17/18" tall.

current stock is
7 x Diamond Neons,
6 x Black Neons,
2 x Dwarf Honey Gourami,
2 x Clown Pleco,
4x nerite snails ( 1 zebra, 3 horned),
5 x Peppered Corydora,
1 x Albino Corydora,
2 African dwarf frogs,
6 x Cherry Barb,
2 x male Endler/guppy hybrids

I have a pair of dwarf honey gourami (although one is basically white now

) not sure how adding a bigger gourami like a pearl would work with them?

theres not a particularly strong current as spray bar is aimed at surface and just ripples if that helps at all

the neons also, the black neons are quite big and fat so not really concerned about those being eaten, the diamond neons are prob just about an inch each tho so possibly food?

ooh kribensis look very interesting! loving the colours!!

p.s. the pic in my sig is old, we hae literally tons of driftwood and hiding places now plus adding more plants etc

Went to check out a new lfs today, andwas keeping my eye open for something i liked.. and i fell in love with a baby angel! he/sheis TINY! rob about half an inch- 3/4 an inch big... ooooh i do love angels!

Gouramis would be beautiful :)  Or, but I know they're kind of small, you could try a Betta (but not both - they will fight like crazy!)

I did indeed get the angel, he's orange at the front, white or silver at the back and has a pink band just under his dorsal fin... Not sure if you can really see the colouring in the pic, he's lovely tho, and seeing as the neons are currently bigger than him I'm hoping he won't grow up to see them as food lol!
