New Canister Filter

ive just purchased new canister filter and was wondering

whats the best way to transfer my exsisting bacterias

to my new filter

You could either transfer the media from the old filter to your new one.

Or

You can run the new filter alongside your old one for 4 weeks, this will give your new filter time to build up the bacteria needed.

could i just drain it in from my sponge as i was intending to use both filters

If your intending to use both filters, I wouldn't do anything with the old one. Just set the new one up and away you go. The beneficial bacteria will build up in your new filter within a couple of weeks.

should of mention this before but im still doing a fish-in cycle

but got to much stock so need more filtration

currently running 5.25 but needed at lesat 7.25

Yup, just setup your new filter, no need to transfer filter media over since you've only been cycling for like a week.
