New Bullivion Rams

Well at the lfs they had these little tiney German Blue Rams and everyone was fighting

But when i looked in the bulivion ram tank they had much bigger ones and NOBODY was fighting at all .So thats why i got the bullivions but if the germans where not fighting and they where bigger than i would of gotten those

Are setups are not suited for the German Rams anyway as they require higher temperature. He's right though, the German Blues were fighting, probably because there were too many males. I'm starting to think we got 2 female Bolivian Rams from a tank with a lot, if not all, females.

We haven't gotten a good look at ours yet really. the lighting on my 10g is terrible. I know we must have a few females. I am hoping there are at least 2 males in the 6.

I thought the side profile picture of Zach's new Rams would be good enough to tell but nobody seems to know. They both have slightly different body shapes but their breeding tubes look the same to me.

Came across this. If you have the saem sex then it may be harder to compare. I am pretty sure I have identified two males and two females, but I have figured out the other two yet. I'm trying not to peer in at them too much. I wanted everyone calm, it is a lot of fish for a little 10g.

I wonder if you have males then. The females really stick out.

you can't compare the males to females if yours are the same. Next time you are in petsmart and they have some you can look and compare. I couldn't see it when I first got them but its more obvious after watching them.

Just wish I knew about my male/female gourami

For sexing the gourami, if the dorsal fin comes to a point it's male if its round on the tip its female
the rams can be a pain ( I miss mine ) but this helped me sex mine

but as young fish I had trouble with it, but as adults the male's anal fin will be more pointed and the tail points will extend farther out than the females

I looked again at your pics Ruskull and compared to both of mine, I wonder if you have 2 males. They really don't look liek the ones that I identified as female. The females look more downward, bigger. The males are easy to see but smaller. I keep going around it, but I guess it's only easy when you are able to compare the two. Sorry.



superguppygirl- thanks. My gouramis are too young I think. 2 of them I know are female, it's the third I am worried about. my store had 6 gouramis in the tank and I bought 3. 4 were females, 1 was sick, and 1 was MAYBE a male. I guess I just have to wait and see.

Thank FF, I think I've determined the 2 original Rams are both males, based on me getting another, more obvious female to add to one of the tanks. So far so good...............
