I wasn't actually planning on getting any bettas today, but I was at PetsMart and decided to look at the bettas. They mostly just had red ones, but when I saw these two I had to have them.

The first one I picked up was a blue bodied, red-finned with black tips halfmoon. I'm not positive if he is a real halfmoon, just a carrier, or a poor halfmoon - but either way, he's really pretty and very active. So, without further ado, meet Astro - you'll have to excuse the terrible picture:

The other betta I picked up looked brown in the cup, but once I put him in his new tank he is actually more of a red-orange. I'm a bit worried about him because he's not as active as Astro is and he is pointing upwards. I think Sorrell and maybe juliethegr8t had this problem with the orangies they got - if one of you two read this, what exactly did you do to fix it? Anyways, his name is Tango and I'll try to get a picture of him in a little while.

Titan, my combtail, has made a enormous bubble nest - the biggest I have ever seen by any of my previous bettas including him! This picture is really out of focus, sorry about that, but here it is so you can all see:

*shows the nest to her betta in hopes that they will build one just like it* pweaseeeeeeeee :-( i'll feed you lots of blodowroms if you do !!!

Hi Acrobit, Astro is gorgeous!!! Very good find

As far as the vertical swimming goes, try feeding some peas, it will act as a fishy laxative and should help that. I would give him until tomorrow though to see if he can work it out on his own. He may just be stressed, they aren't kept in the best conditions at petshops. Maybe give him a little stresscoat too, and see how that works out. Both my boys got over it on their own, Julie suggested trying the peas if they didn't. If she reads this she can help you more.
