A fair amount of people seem to make a thread when they get new fish, so I thought I might join in. Today I bought a male red VT from a local store after losing Pablo a few weeks ago.

For some time I'd been after a 'fancy' betta online, but I thought of my fishless tank and decided to go to a store.

He's currently being acclimated. Pics to come once he's in and the lights are on ;)

He's lovely! Great shape and colouring, and he looks very inquisitive. I'm constantly toying over getting something fancy, but there's something about seeing them in the store ...

Thanks. He does seem very inquisitive, he seems to be constantly exploring. I really like the blue on him - it's on his body too (though its harder to see) and it makes him look almost purple. There is definitely something about seeing them in store :)

I noticed him trying to eat things on the sand (I couldn't see anything in particular apart from part of an old shrimp exoskeleton at one point), so I decided to give him a little food. Fortunately he seems to have taken to it.

I just went to check on him and found dead pouch snails all over the tank - I guess he isn't one for snails then!

Love his red and blue he has..my male wasn't one for cories until he figured out he can love on them and they don't mind to a certain extent

I used to keep cories with my old betta, but I decided they'd be better off in a bigger tank which I couldn't provide. I've even seen him pecking at the assassin snails!

his a great looking little guy, im thinking about saving one from the shop in town tomorrow,
lol well hoping for some female ~,~ haha

After I found out he attacks my shrimp (I've only seen 1 or 2 all day), I was rather dissapointed as I had thought of adding a couple of endlers and keeping a nice breeding group of shrimp. I seriously thought that I ought to rehome him, but it seems he has settled himself in:

He started it yesterday, but seems to have continued today. Just thought I might share ;)

Darkpride: thankyou :)
