My blue crayfish didn't survive his molt a couple of days ago, I got a betta! It is a 6 g Tank, I'm sure it's plenty big for him. but not too big, right?

Also, overall he looks fine, is active, has no growths or nothing on him. I saw him at the store and I can only guess what beautiful color he once was. The stress of being in the tiny bowl there, possibly getting cheapest food and what not, he's quite discolored- but no tears in fins by the way. I particularly bought him and not one of the ones who was still beautiful, because I know- usually no one would buy him looking like that! The color does come back right, how long does that usually take?

Also, I tried different things, Betta food, flakes ect. but he doesn't wanna eat. Other then that he's active, and like I said no abnonralities visible, he just won't eat! I got him yesterday morning, I know that Bettas can go for days without food- still I thought maybe one of you has something I could try Bettas usually find irresistible.

Also, I have a cononut-hut in the tank, which seems to grow fungus I guess. It's wood so I'm sure that plays into it, being in the water all of the time. My ghostshrimp and my little swwetwater crab loooove the stuff. but it's unsighlty and it looks on one part where it thouches the glass that there are a couple of tiny white worms or what ever. Should I get rid of the coconut-hut in there, it used to be my blue crayfishes hut, my little crabby prefers hiting in the plants- Gutt wise I'd say get rid of the fungus (waterquality is great by the way and stable) ,ut i'm afraid those tiny worms get more and are parasites.

I would remove the hut. No need to leave something that may prove harmful. Better safe than sorry.
I wouldn't be too concerned about him not eating. Especially with him just getting a new home, he may not eat for several days. I wouldn't get too concerned unless he starts looking skinny/unhealthy.
My newest boy doesn't eat well and I am now trying a feeding circle that is suctioned to the side of the tank to localize his food. That way I can better monitor his eating habits.
Usually a crushed up pea is really tempting for bettas, at least for mine. So, try that to get him started. Don't feed much to begin with because it will just get gross laying at the bottom.
His color will come back in a matter of days or weeks more than likely. With clean water and food he'll probably brighten right up.

Hi

If its a real coconut cave just take it out and give it a really good scrub in water :good: Rinse it well and pop it back in.
