Wife just phoned up to say that we have had around 15/20 new arrivals this afternoon from our Tetras ! Trouble is the other bigger fish are picking them off one at a time.

Is this normal ?

Absolutely normal I'm afraid. You need to separate them ASAP if you want to raise them.

You'll need to buy a breeding net or box to put the babies in to separate them from the rest of the fish.

The fact that they made it out of the egg stage is amazing! Do you have a densely planted tank? If so, you may actually have some surviving on their own. What kind of tetra is it?

Hi,

Well, after many attempts, we managed to 'save' around half of the fish fry (right word ?)by putting them back into a breeding box hastily purchased by the missus. We have both Neon and glowlight Tetra btw,but I dont know what the fry are 100% yet. I can also see 2 or 3 tiny orange fish around 3 mm long hiding in the undergrowth and thick plants at the rear of the tank ,perhaps these are baby Platties as we also have both Balloon and Micky mouse type ?
