I just set up a new 55 gallon aquarium. Here's a photo I just took. There are fish in there somewhere.

I'm hoping I get an instant cycle. The new filter uses the same cartridges as the the filter for my old 15 gallon tank (it just takes 2 of them), so I put the cartridge I've had in the old filter in one side of the new one. I also transplanted a few live plants.

wow! thats an awsome tank! what fish do you have in there

Thanks! I have a pearl gourami, a neon blue dwarf gourami, a diamond tetra, a black widow tetra, an x-ray tetra, and a pleco (not sure what kind, but it's supposed to grow to 6-8 inches)

will you be getting more tetra's? they like to travel in shoals which is 5 or more

good luck, that tank looks really nice, keep updated with pics :)

Thanks. I have room to add lot more fish. Some of them will be tetras to keep the current ones happy.

The diamond tetra and the black widow tetra swim together a lot, which is kind of surprising to me since they're not the same species.

Thanks :D

I want to get rid of the castle, as I've been favoring the natural look lately, but I don't have anything to take its place. I have some big rocks soaking in a 10 gallon aquarium in my basement. If the water still looks good in a week or so I'll stick them in.

Yup,get rid of Camelot and get a nice big chunk of Driftwood or Mopani to use as a focal point.
Personally i would also get rid of the small items sitting on the bottom.

Wow love your tank!!! Its so clear i can never get mine so clear!!! It looks very good.

Mine has always been crystal clear, which I know is a feat.

The glass or the water?
My glass is never really 100% clean of smudges, and i have to clean the inside glass every month to stop that damn algae :X .

Nice tank, i only usually like tanks without fake rocks and plants, but this has to be the one exeption :good: . The more natural the better though amd your real planys look very healthy:) .

Thanks everyone! :)

The castle is now gone, although I haven't found anything to replace it with. My pleco had developed a habit of going inside it and never coming out, so I got rid of it. I've had a few natural rocks soaking in a 10g aquarium in my basement for about a week now. When I have time I'm going to test the water, and if it's safe, I'll put the natural rocks in.

What I meant by instant cycle is that by taking the cartridge from a 15 gallon tank, my new aquarium would be stable with only the fish that I had in my 15 gallon tank in it.
