Hi all!

Well, I finally managed to track down some Apistogramma Cacatuiodes, and they are now settling down in my tank.

So a couple of questions for you guys...

They were listed as "Double Red", but they look more "Orange Flash" to me, what do you think?

The second question, would I be able to keep another pair of Apisto's or Rams in the same tank? It's a planted 180L 36" tank, with wood and decorations to break up the sightlines.

I understand about territories, and setting up caves and hiding places, but was wondering what success or not others have had with this arrangement.

Thanks.

Si.

i have a pair of rams in with my apistos. no trouble at all. as you have mentioned, having 2 very different areas is a good idea. yours certainly look well fed :hyper:

They are beauties  They look like a strong orange rather than red but I personally prefer the Orange version.

Hehe, I was wondering who would notice that! They are stuffed full of bloodworms, as their first feed since they went in yesterday.. :)

Thanks for the replies, Yeah, they are more orange than I was expecting, but that's fine.

Hmm they might even be Agassizi's?

Agassizi

Any way of telling definitively if they are orange Cacatuoides or Agassizi's?

Its an interesting thought -
I've got double reds, and yours most definitely are not double reds !

Also, my male is almost 3 times the size of the female - and they are both
fully grown.
I really do wonder if you do have Agassizi's instead.
They don't look like Cac's in my opinion

Yeah, I have my suspicions now :)

Heres a better photo of mine, top image Pics

The male is about twice the size of the female.

Oh well. Agassizi's were my other choice anyway :)

Its a A. Cacatuoides check out my posts and see the images of my gold A. Cacatuoides

Cool, but how do you tell?

I looked through your posts, but I think your golds have red and black fins, whereas mine are pure orange...

Check out the link for Agassizi's...

Agassizi'a

As far as I can tell, mine look much more like that than the typical "Double Red"...

Bloody evolution... :)
