Hey everyone!

Got the new tank up and running. just set it up last night and put in the driftwood/plants/rocks

Leave me a comment to tell me what you think!

Also, I'm looking for some suggested tank mates. a shoal of something and maybe an oddball.

Thanks again Friends!

A shoal of dwarf neon rainbow fish would be nice, or harlequins, congo tetras, buenos aires tetras, any shoaling species that'll get big enough not to become angelfish lunch :p

Oddballs - no idea :p Not my forte, but I'm sure there's plenty of folk here who's forte it is

Not Congo tetras! Much as I love them, not with angels. I've just had to move my veil tail angel, as my Congos were nipping at his dorsal fin :(

was going to suggest some sort of birchir but with the khuli loaches i would suspect they would get eaten. another choice maybe celebes half beaks or butterfly fish but i believe they would lower your options of smaller fish.

also nice tank really like the rock work.

Thanks.

I'm excited to stock it more but I really want to make sure that the angel is left alone. I wont stock something that will nip at it's fins.

some of my ideas are: hatchet fish, small tetras, dwarf gouramis, maybe a shoal of corries...

A bunch of Danios are always guaranteed smiles.:D

As for oddball fish, you can try an African Butterflyfish. Just throwing one out there.

Good luck and have fun stocking your new aquarium.

Not German rams. They need higher temps, 80-82 F. Apistos are nice, maybe a trio of Apistogramma Cacatuodes? Or maybe a pair of Laetacara Dorsigera?

Hey, tank looking good!!! .
No doubt you are but when you say you set your tank up last night, im assuming decorations, etc? It has been cycled ... Hasn't it?!
How bout considering a pair of Kribs maybe? Im not sure what temp you keep Angels at but touch wood my GBR's i got yesyerday are kept at 28-29 degrees with a PH of 7.2 which was same as the water at the LFS I got them from and all is ok tho is early days!!
So far as i know i wouldnt go with any dmall fish as neons, etc otherwise your angel will get a geeat treat!! Lol.
What is your water PH, hardness, etc as this no doubt will influence what fish are best suited to your tank.
Still, looking good and welcome!! .

Haha, yes the tank is properly cycled. It's been running for about 2 years but I was using it as an african cichlid breeding setup. I sold all my breeding pairs off and my show tank and just downsized. I want a nice little community tank now anyway. I just buffered the ph to get it back to where I want it for this tank and buffered out the hardness as well. I have great water stats, I'm no noobie. lol. the reason I say "finally" in the title is because after my last move to my new house I left it pretty bare (not decorated)and just had my pleco in there to keep it up and running. When I added the khulis I just took the filter media from their tank (a 10gal temporary tank) and put it all in with the 55 filter. I'll still keep an eye on the stats as i am adding new fish though.

I love the idea of Apistos of any south american dwarf cichlid of sorts (assuming they aren't aggressive or fin nippers)any other suggestions so I can start checking with my LFS?

Hey, another random question...

what, if any, invertebrates could go in my community tank here. I'm thinking a bunch of shrimp would be nice but it all depends on how peaceful a single angel (and the other shoaling fish when I pick them) can be I suppose...

thanks again guys, I love the forums
