hi,

i'm getting a 45l tank for my betta, simon, and would like either some bronze corys or khuli loaches to go in with him. i was just wondering if they would be suitable tank mates for him and if so how many could i have? any help would be much appreciated,

cheers

Just to clarify - 12 US gallons :) (for those who do not know what 24 L is)

You could add 5 Kuhlis or 4 Corys

Or 3 of each I think - but this depends on your filtration - as long as that's adequate and you don't turn the flowrate down too much.

thanks for the reply bloo!

i've been researching both khulis and corys and cant make up my mind which to go for. if anyones got any opinions on either feel free to share!

Well I have both of those at the moment - but not currently together in any of my tanks - though have had.

They'll get a long just fine and though the Kuhli's can reach a few inches, they are fairly low waste producers, the corys a bit higher in waste output.

It would depend what's available in your lfs, but most should work out just fine - of course you have to have heating too :) and around 24-25C (75F-77F).

If you get pygmy corydoras (pygmaeus, habrosus, etc.), you can up the number to 7-8 corydoras, if you just kept the one species. I've kept them with my most agressive plakat and nothing. Pygmaeus also schools all over the tank, not just on the bottom, very cute fish. Great little busy-bodies, always cruising the tank.

thanks for the info guys!

i think im going to have to give it some more thought before i can make a decision on what to get.
