We went to Big Al's tonight because I wanted to get salt for my brine shrimp hatchery and tonight was shark feeding night so we went to watch that.

I got my tank a few weeks ago and my girlfriend has wanted one ever since!

We got there and my girlfriend saw the eclipse 12 system for sale. She finally gave in and bought it.

It comes with a nice bio-wheel filter that is incorporated underneath the hood and it is very quiet. I just had to trim a part of the intake tube as the intake was almost touching the gravel. I shortened it by about an inch.

It also included a submersible 100W heater.

We basically put in gravel and got everything running tonight. I have a few plants in my 20 gallon so I will take some from there to plant her tank. (especially the vallis, I must have 6 or 7 new sprouts since i put them in last month)

and over all this excitment, I forgot to purchase the salt

We'll start fishless cycling tomorrow (my tank isn't doen cycling so it's no use giving her some of my filter media)

yup

can't wait to get it rolling

I'm going to get some small cichlids and gouramis to replace the guppies in my tank!

I like them but she likes them a lot more than i do and i prefer fish a bit more attitude ;)

buy a product called cycle by hagen, it works wonders, I've never cycled a tank in my life and I've lost minimal fish (none due to water conditions)

i believe cycle is a beneficial bacteria and it helps age the new water quickly and you don't have to worry about overdosing because you can't with it (unless you get really carried away) but the worse that will happen is it will cloud your tank for a few days... better then waiting weeks or months like I've seen some people say :S

I've used cycle in my tank and it's done nothing...
I stopped adding it

I've been cycling for about a month now and it's almost over.

My gf will be fishless cycling so I expect 2 to 3 weeks for the cycle to complete

I can't go this sunday as i'm working night shifts and noon is too early :(
