New 10 Gallon Tank

So for my birthday i was going to setup a 10 gallon tank for shelldwellers but have decided to put it off til christmas. Now, im wondering about a few things. First off, can i keep Tiger Barbs in a 10 gallon tank? Does anyone here have experince with Shelldwellers that can offer me advice on Altolamprologus Sp. "Sumbu"? Also, Does anyone have experince with rainbowfish as i may add a few of those also or some spotted blue eyes? Thanks in advance for all advice given.

Welcome to our forum CichlidLover.
A 10 gallon tank is only really suitable for small fishes. Your shellies would be a great example of those. Rainbows can get quite large by comparison and more then 2 or 3 of them would probably over stock your tank. Tiger barbs must be kept in fairly large numbers to avoid too much damage from the intraspecific aggression so I would not try them in a 10 gallon. You can figure that 5 of them would be the maximum stock level for a 10 gallon and that is just too few for a good group of them.
I would ask why you want to add something aside from your favorite fish, the shellies. Once your tank has cycled properly, you should be able to add a few, along with he needed shells, with very little trouble.

I like more of a community, i think im going to do a planted tank with some Oto's and some other schooling fish.
