New 10 Gal Tank

I took a trip to Living Waters in Beddington Lane, London. today and came back with some more bits for my Tank including a few small Hygro Corymbosa, Cryptocorine and moss, A bottle of Easy Carbo, A new filter,

(I have left my old filter sponge in my tank for now to hopefully pass some of it's good bacteria to the new filter.)
And some new Gravel to go under my White Sand. :)

(I also got a few bits for my Marine tank but that is for another Journal. :shifty: )

Oh and some of my other bits came today I have a mag-float cleaner and a small piece of Mopani Wood which I have put into a bucket in the bathroom to soak, all the water has gone yellow. :)
(It looks like a sunken Dragon figure head or a large sea horse, but then I see Dragons everywhere. )

And now for pictures:

And now the Plants: ;D

Java Moss

Java Fern (Type III from what it said on one of the plant websites) It reminded me of the Chinese lettuce from the supermarket.

Hygrophila Corymbosa (I think.)

Cryptocoryne (I think.)

And a temporary placement until the wood is ready and I work out the best places for them. I am hoping for a sort of valley effect with some clear sandy areas if I can. But I'll need a little advice on placement for that.

So for now this will do. :good:

I've had a little move around and added my Wood.

I have Been told that I should stop the "Fishless Cycle" and just stock slowly as the plants work like the filter and remove harmful Ammonia. How accurate is this? I don't want to harm any fish by stocking to soon.

oh and today's plant Pics :D

I've been adding EasyCarbo to the water each day but I'll have to go back to Living Waters to talk about fertilizers and fish :D

Looking good. Watch out with the new filter ihad that when i first started keeping tropicals and it only lasted 2 months before dieing.

Oh :( I hope it lasts ok. It is lower to the sand than my last one and seems to have a much higher flow as it's made the sand into dunes. But the Tank is coming along and has had it's first Nitrite spike so I think we are about halfway there. :D

I've started adding 4mls Pro Fito once a week for the plants and 1ml Easy Carbo once a day.
and all the plants are looking good. :)

I got my New light from Living waters in Croydon today. (It's so much better than my old hood.)
Oh and I got a new camera today so much better pics this time. :)
I think I might have to take out a bit of the sand though as the dunes at the front keep getting really high and need to be pushed back down again. :/

I added 2ml Ammonia this morning to get it's levels up and I will pick up a test kit for Nitrate (NO3) soon. I also added 1ml EasyCarbo. and 4ml ProFito to make my plants happy. :D

Water Tests:
Ammonia (NH3+NH4) = 1.5mg/l (ppm)
Nitrite (NO2) = off the scale

Just a case of waiting for the Nitrite to come back down to 0 ppm along with the Ammonia and then I'll do a big water change of about 50% and then it should be almost ready for the first inhabitants.
Some Cherry Shrimp.

Today I removed some of the sand and had a move about so I could add a new decoration to my Tropical Tank. I Think it should be ready soon, Just need the Nitrite to drop and we will be there. :good:

I think I may also add some kind of background so I can't see all the way through the tank. I'm most likely to go for a dark/black one I think. :)

Hi this is looking really good :) Few things to point out though, first if your having hatchets you need to find a cover for the tank other wise they will jump out really quickly and also take the crypt out of the pot :)

Good luck with the fishless cycle your definitely on the right track to a good tank :)
