New 10 Gal Tank

3 Apistograma Panduro (1M 2F)
10 Marbled Hatchets or 10 Rummy Nose Tetras (or similar small tetra)
5 Cherry shrimp (maybe, something for you to think about the cichlids may eat them but there is a good chance they wont)

Oh thanx :hyper:
I've written them down and I'm gonna have a look at their info :good:
I may still get a few guppys as they are lovely colours. I'll have to find out if my lfs will take my young fish if they do start breeding in my tank. :D

Okay if you go for guppies stick with one of the schools and then subtract from 10 the number of guppies you get. Just stick to male guppies and you wont get any babies, and at the end of the day its the males you want :good: :)

have you thought about endlers insted of guppies there more colourfully IMO and they dont have the long tails that the apisto can get hold of. ive kept endlers with my apisto before but never had any luck with guppies they aall got shreedded within a few hours.

 Oh....
I don't want the poor Guppys to get eaten
The Endler's are very pretty
They look very similar to the Guppys in colour and that's the main reason I wanted them. Do they breed as much as Guppys?
I would like to learn about breeding my fish but I'm just a little worried about finding over 100 fry and not being able to get them all homes. :-(

there pretty much the same as guppies without the massive tail. they will cross breed with guppies as they are that cloesly related. they breed the same as guppies but dont eat there fry like guppies. all you have to do is have a male and female and you will get fry about every month. you need 2 females to every make or the male will harrass the female. you wont get 100s because the apisto will eat most of them but if there is quite a few hiding plases you should get the odd fry and if its really heavely planted then you should still get a fair amount of fry.

Cool Thanx B-)
So does this sound ok?
3 Apistograma Panduro / Blue Panda Apisto(1M, 2F),
5 Poecilia Wingei / Endler's Livebearer (2M, 3F),
5 Carnegiella Strigata / Marbled Hatchet Fish,
5 Neocaridina Denticulata Sinenesis / Cherry Shrimp (2M, 3F).

Oh on another note, are there any plants recommended for these types of fish?
Plants that don't really need CO2 would be better for me :D

Thank you again for your all help :good:

looks good but i would only have 1m and 3f endlers

Its sounding like a plan ! you could probly get about 10 cherry shrimp coz they take up no room at all they just hide in tiny places then come out when its quite to feed :D thats what mine do anyway and atm they are all full of eggs ! exept the males..... coz that would be abit creepy... GOOD LUCK!

Oh and please be sure to put photos up when you have some fish ! i love little tanks like this it makes me whant to re-stock my little 1ft D-shaped tank

Don't worry, I will post lots of pics as soon as I get my fish.
:D

Gah!!! My filters died... :-(

I let it soak in a tub of Vinegar and then cleaned it out with hot water and now its working again. so I've decided to start again. (The tank was looking a little manky anyway.)
Everything has been cleaned out and bought some new bits and and bobs as well as some better sand so time to start again. I'm just glad I've had this problem before adding any fish. -_-
It may be a pain but these things happen and half the fun is the set up process. :D

Well the new sand has been washed and placed into the tank.
Add 20mil Tetra Aqua Safe to the water to Dechlorinate the water.
And then Add 6.0mil Ammonia to get the Cycle started... again. :p
(I have a bottle of Homecare Essentials Ammonia and it seams to be a very weak solution to use to get to the ideal 5ppm needed for Cycling.)

Now I just need to sit back and wait. (Until Friday when I'll test again :) )

I waited a few hours after setting up the tank and adding Ammonia to the tank before doing today's tests.
Water test:~
Ammonia 3.0 mg/l
Nitrite 0.0 mg/l
