Hey everyone, I hate when I have to post on this section of the forums. Here's the story.

I have a 30G and a 10G. The 30G has 10 zebra danios and a pair of German blue rams, the danios I have had for almost 2 weeks and the GBR's just over 1 week. Obviously I failed to do a basic quarantine like I should have and now I will be paying for that stupidity. I have since setup the 10G as a bare bottom and cycled quarantine tank. The danios were all ick free and happy, but the smallest GBR had a spot of ick when I introduced it that I hadn't noticed until a day or two later. The 30G is medium planted with ghost shrimp. The danios still have no visible signs of ick but it has been a week so they are almost surely infected, the smallest GBR hasn't been flashing or acting very strange, but he clearly has 4-6 white spots on his fins, none that I can tell on his body. The larger GBR appears to have 1-2 on his fins, but they are not as pronounced and so I am not positive if it is ick.

My battle plan is this:

1. Move all 12 fish to the 10G (I know its a lot but it will have to do for a week or so).
2. Begin 82*F heat and salt treatment w/ low or no lighting on 10G from this Tuesday till next Tuesday (and beyond if they are still not cured).
3. Leave shrimp and plants alone and also heat 30G to 82*F for the duration

My questions are these:

1. Will 1 week in the 30G be enough for the ick to die naturally with no hosts and no treatment other than the heating?
2. I have quick cure on hand as well, would you recommend this over the salt treatment for faster or more effective curing?
3. This one is related to the first question. Can the shrimp actually become infected with ich? From what I understand they cannot, but I thought I would ask.
4. Besides ick could this be something else and would salt also take care of it if it is? Like I said in the initial part of the post, no one is flashing or otherwise acting strange. (I will attempt to get a couple pictures, but I am not very good at getting clear shots of the fish).

Thanks for the help, and feel free to berate me, I knew better than to not quarantine and still did it anyways. The fish from my LFS were very healthy looking with no visible ick in any of the tanks, so I thought the risk would be minimal. Lesson learned.

I have no testing equipment, but the tanks were seeded and clearly had the bacterial bloom, all the danios and shrimp were very happy and fat and healthy (still are as far as I can tell) before the GBR's were introduced and I haven't lost any fish or had any of them act strangely. The tank is filtered with a 60G rated HOB type filter. I do a 15% water change every other day normally and sometimes on the weekends a 25% if I'm up to it. I would say my water parameters are very good as the plants and fish are all growing and "happy". I know that's not scientific enough, but its what I got. lol

Whitespot looks like the fish has been sprinked in salt, or the spots look the size of a grain of salt.

Not sure how long whitespot can live with out a host.
You will need to remove the shrimp as whitespot meds can kill them.
Its always best to treat the whole tank if one fish has whitespot.

@ Wilder - Thanks I guess? You didnt really answer any of my questions and you just regurgitated very basic info I already knew...

Here's a few pictures I took, I'm not very good at it but hopefully it will help. Like I said, I don't think any of them have gone away since I got the fish around 8 days ago and only the 2 rams have them and they really aren't showing any other symptoms like scratching or heavy breathing. Could it be something else, or is it just spots on the body that I shouldn't even be worrying about? The female (on left in first image) also has 2-3 on her left bottom front fin.

Uh.. These are some pretty lame responses on this forum, if you are going to bother to reply the least you could do is elaborate and give reasoning for anything. I will stick with the aquahobby forums where people actually give real answers that were thought out and have some meaning. Thanks anyways.

Looks like whitespot to me.
