Neon Tetra-Cause Of Death

Hi

Today i got home to unfourtuantly find that 1 of my Neon Tetras had died.I got it out of the tank and noticed that it had a yellow mark on it. I don't know if it was the light but i am preety sure it was on the fish.

Does anyone know how this fish may have died?

Very hard to say without at least a pic of the fish. One thing you should do, whenever you lose a fish, is to check all your water parameters just to make sure. You can head off a potential disaster with this simple step. I would say more people lose fish to water quality issues than all other causes combined.

If this is the case. where did the yellow mark come from?

Any additional information you can add will greatly help. Water parameters: ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, pH, hardness... tank mates, size of tank, tank maintenance routine, recent additions, length of time the tank has been running, etc. Any additives you use with the tank, including dechlorinator, et al.

If this is the case. where did the yellow mark come from?

The yellow mark could just have been a result of the color fading when the fish died. I can't think of any diseases offhand that have a yellow mark as one of the symptoms.

Is your tank a cycled mature one? The reason i ask is because neons are sensitive to water quality and do not fare well in a new tank. - it should be at least 6 months old before you even think of adding them.
